I talk to Brandy about the topic of intimacy, her process and more.
.
Brandy Eve Allen works in strictly analog methods of photography. Her work encapsulates a rebellious spirit confronting the dilemma of discovering life’s purpose, death reconciliation, “solitude and human –earth-love connection.” She has always photographed herself and those close to her and continues to do so. Many of them naked, the body, whether human or synthetic, representing a universal symbol and language for emotional reactions and expressions. She is rescuing human form from the male gaze without dismissing sensuality. Her work is a resistance to authoritative frameworks that cater to societal baggage steeped in western and religious ideas of purity by challenging patriarchal hetero ecosystems and returning the human form to an eco-sexual space that honors the human nature experience and connection. "Salva Corpus Amanti "save the lover's body" :: To emotionally and viscerally experience what is seen with the eyes as ecstasy, total unity and oneness" - Brandy Eve Allen
